8th Grade Trip

I was lucky enough to spend this weekend chaperoning our 8th grade trip!  Our school is quite lucky in that our 8th graders get to travel out of the state for their reward trip; I've heard that this is becoming a thing of the past...is there any truth to that?

At any rate....

We took them to California!  This may not seem like a big deal to some of the bigger schools, but for a lot of my kids it was their first time even being out of the state.

The first thing on our agenda, naturally, was Disneyland!  The excitement in their eyes is something that I never forget with any of the classes that I've taken.  They had a wonderful time and thankfully, none of the rides were closed for maintenance....I don't know how we got that lucky.

The second day we took them to the beach to see what water looks like.  You may be laughing, but my poor Phoenix kids have never seen a lake, much less an ocean!  They took to the water like fish.  It took us forEVER to get them all out and dried off!

After we hosed them down, we took them to Six Flags to celebrate their 8th grade grad night.  It was awesome because the whole park closed down for 6 hours, and there were nothing but 8th graders there.  I am proud to report that my kids were easily the most mannered ones there.  I'm also disgusted to report that children these days have insane potty mouths.  Ick.

Over all I would say that the trip was a huge success.  Our students did a great job and represented our school well.  Now I'm just trying to recover from it all.  We'll see how that goes.

PS:  I was SUPER stoked to find 'Fix It Felix Jr.' at the arcade at Disneyland!  #ForTheWin!
