That Time of Year

It's that time of year again.  Everywhere I look teachers are frantically hoping that they've done all they can.  Parents are wondering why their students look like zombies.  Students are wondering why their teacher hates them.  Administrators are wondering if their school will make the cut.

It's time for standardized testing.

Here in Arizona we get to take the AIMS test.  At least for now.  As usual we've already been told that most likely next year we'll get a new test to roll out.

I do feel bad for the kiddos.  They have to sit through these tests and hear people complain about them ad nauseam.  Then, if they don't live up to our standards, they are told they need to be in boring labs and tutoring to add on to the class they probably already hate.

As a teacher, I try my best to help my students understand why we take these tests.  I want them to know that they are important, even if we don't always see why.  I want them to do their best.  I know that they are capable.  They just have to prove it.

To help ease their pain a little bit I've decided to make them little treats.  One for each day to hopefully give them something to look forward to.

On top of that, my awesome middle school team will be having a kickball tournament.  They've been looking forward to this all year so I can't wait to see what my class can do!

Here's hoping I don't

A) Fall asleep of boredom
B) Break an ankle playing kickball
