Interactive Math Journals

Part of me moving to a new school next year is me being able to teach a new-ish subject!  I say new-ish because technically I've taught math the last four years; this was my first year not teaching it.  This will, however, be my first year teaching it with my new perspective on teaching!  I've always fancied myself a good teacher, but I now think that I have the ability to be a great teacher because of how my ideas have transformed and matured.  I suppose that darn graduate degree WAS good for something!

Any who, part of what what I worked on this year for LA was reaching every.sing.student.  This, obviously, is an intense task for anyone!  I had learned so much about Differentiated Instruction during my classes that I wanted needed to try it in real life.  I spent hours developing different activities and ways for each student to find solace in my work.

Now that I'm to be teaching math again, I don't want to lose that.  I think it really did make a difference in my teaching and in my students' learning.  That being said, I set out on a journey to find Interactive Math Journals that would fit my style and my students.  This isn't always easy for middle school; every one seems to forget that they love fun stuff too they just smell a little bit more than the third graders.

My search brought me to this:

My hat goes off to Runde's Room because this resource is absolutely fabulous.  It is precisely what I was looking for!  There is even a list of the Common Core Standards and which activities hit them for 4th-8th grade.  Perfecto!

Any way, if you're looking for a great start on your math journals, hit that yo.
