This week for Techie Tuesday, I'll be re-showing my DJ find!
When I was first asked to play the roll of DJ at our school dances, I thought it would be kind of cool. It was kind of an ego boost as I pride myself on my music collection and ability to keep it 'fresh'. Then, as I started combing through my music, I realized just how much of a pain it is to be a school DJ!
I don't mind finding songs with clean lyrics; I don't like cussing in my music anyway. The hard part was finding songs that weren't so disgusting in meaning that I would blush when the kids heard it! It seems that every song, oldies or newbies, has a dirty connotation. What is with these people? Add on the fact that I work for a very conservative private school, and there was absolutely no wiggle room for music. No wonder no one else wanted to take on this job.
I finally found this website:
I was so relieved because they did a lot of the work for me. This website lists all of the new (and old) songs that kids are listening to and tells whether or not it it appropriate for a school dance. If the answer is no, they give you a reason. If there is need to find the edited version of a song, they tell you so. There are even blogs that explain away why some of the most popular songs are absolutely not OK for schools.
I still had a lot of work to do, but this website saved me hard core. Thanks guys!

This is good! I will save this and use it for church festival background music next year :)
This is great! I am certainly not a DJ myself :) but our assistant principal often "dj's" our events...I will have to pass this website onto him as it looks great! Thanks so much for sharing!
PS I am your newest follower-I'm glad I found you!
